If you look, there is always beauty.

“Look at my beauty.”
I heard this repeatedly while driving through the misty mid-western countryside on a dreary December day.
I would see the same scene played out over and over again along the side of the highway and each time the whisper was the same, “Look at my beauty.” Dark against the pale gray sky stood a leafless tree separate from but surrounded by farmland and timber which was barely visible from being shrouded in heavy fog.

Each dark tree displayed solitary beauty and bold strength.
“Look at my beauty. There is beauty in the sturdiness. There is beauty in the ebony wood. There is beauty in the design of my branches. There is beauty in my strength. Look at my beauty.”
Each dark, desolate tree, so like my lonely, broken heart which remains disconnected from the remainder of my happiness veiled life.
“Look at my beauty.”, it whispers. “There is beauty in the loneliness. There is beauty in the broken-ness. There is beauty in the emotion. There is beauty in the passion. There is beauty in the fear. There is beauty in the tears. There is beauty in the strength. Look at my beauty.”
